    Description

Polypropylene (PP) resin, designated with the #5 resin identification code, it known as polyprotein, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. It is produced via chain-growth polymerization from the monomer propylene. This is one of the most common resins in packaging applications, used for injection molded tubs, containers, and closures, blow molded bottles, thermoformed trays, flexible films and labels, and distribution foams. PP is also used to produce large household plastic and consumer goods. In industrial and applications, PP is used for automotive parts and woven bags. In grocery retail operations, PP tubs are typically used for bulk distribution of fish and deli items. Use of colorants within PP is common and does not generally impact recyclability, although natural PP may command a higher market value.
