Polystyrene (PS) Resin, designated with the #6 resin identification code (RIC), Polystyrene (PS) is a naturally transparent thermoplastic but can be coloured with colorants. This material is available as both a typical solid plastic as well in the form of a rigid foam material. This material is commonly used in a variety of consumer product applications and is also particularly useful for commercial packaging. Uses include protective packaging (such as packing peanuts and in the jewel cases used for storage of optical discs such as CDs and occasionally DVDs), containers, lids, bottles, trays, tumblers, disposable cutlery.
